Casa Outlaw is a vacation home located in Brisas de Zicatela, Oaxaca, within a private development bordering an ecological reserve. This privileged location ensures privacy, tranquility, and a direct connection with nature—key elements in the project’s intent.

Conceived as a tropical retreat, the house reflects a U.S. couple’s desire for a lifestyle centered on retirement, ecotourism, and adventure. Inspired by their travels through Bali and Nicaragua, the architecture blends tropical references with Mexican vernacular elements.

The project consists of a three-story main volume and a rooftop terrace with a pool. The ground floor houses a bedroom, open common areas connected to the outdoors, and a terrace with a palapa, a parota wood dining table, and handcrafted furniture. The upper floors feature private bedrooms, a large hammock on the rooftop with panoramic views, and custom details defined by the clients.

The bioclimatic design incorporates palapas, cross ventilation, and natural shade. Local materials such as parota wood and slate stone are combined with hand-made Oaxacan tiles featuring exclusive designs by master artist Francisco Toledo, handcrafted furniture, and artworks from San Cristóbal. The bedroom mural and other pieces throughout the house were created by local artist Nicolás Guzmán. Together, these elements create a warm, introspective atmosphere in harmony with its tropical setting.
