Located in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Casa Cali was born from the client’s desire to live in a residence that reflects the studio’s signature: functional design, restrained architecture, and the use of local materials—all adapted to family life.

The commission emerged organically after the client—together with his wife and young children—spent time in one of the firm’s developments. Shortly after, he acquired a plot in Punta de Zicatela, in an elevated area with sweeping ocean views.

The design proposes a family-friendly layout, considering height levels, railings, circulation, and finishes from both a functional and safety-oriented perspective.

A request from one of the daughters—to preserve the land as untouched as possible—became the guiding principle of the project. Three plum trees were preserved, ultimately shaping the distribution of the architectural program and the overall volumetry of the house.

With 5160 sq ft of construction on a 4840 sq ft lot, the white house features Oaxacan-style palapas and wooden pergolas, and is organized into two and a half levels: common areas on the ground floor, bedrooms and terraces above, and a sunset lookout at the top.

The material palette includes durable, low-maintenance local elements such as concrete, microcement, palapas, and Macuil wood. The result is a modern, resilient home fully adapted to the local climate.

Casa Cali reflects the studio’s commitment to crafting unique living experiences through a deep understanding of both context and client.
