Casa Alegría is a vacation rental residence located in Brisas de Zicatela, Oaxaca, a coastal town that forms part of the greater Puerto Escondido area. This city is known for its beaches, gastronomy, topography, vernacular architecture, and bohemian charm—qualities that have made it one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the country.
The project is situated in an expanding neighborhood just minutes from the beach. Its design stems from the client’s desire to create a restful space with a strong connection to the natural and cultural environment. To achieve this, a Mediterranean architectural style was adopted, incorporating elements of vernacular design and local materials.
The house is organized across three levels with open layouts and seamless visual continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces. It includes a kitchen, dining area, an outdoor pool that flows into the interior, a cactus garden, three bedrooms with ocean views, and a main bedroom beneath a double-height palapa, with a terrace and jacuzzi.
The use of certified parota wood and reclaimed timber for doors and columns, along with bioclimatic strategies, reinforces the home’s sustainable character and integration with the surrounding landscape.
